Tibial Nerve Injury after Arthroscopic Repair of a Torn Medial Meniscus |
|
Abstract |
Arthroscopic operation is useful method for the patients with intraartuciular abnormalities. Even though knee arthroscopy is a minimal invasive procedure, neurologic complication may occur rarely. We report the case of a 42-year-old woman who underwent knee arthroscopy. Postoperatively, she complainted weakness of left toe flexors and hypoesthesia on left sole. Nerve conduction studies and needle electromyography showed tibial nerve injury around popliteal fossa. Because of the closed nature of their procedure and proximity of neural structures to instruments, neurologc injury was occurred. More attetion about anatomy around popliteal fossa are needed for prevention of neurologic injury. |
